James Brittain-McVey visits Parliament to discuss important issues with MPs

James Brittain-McVey, lead guitarist from The Vamps, was rubbing shoulders with British MPs last week.

The talented musician went to Parliament to meet with Dr Luke Evans, who is both a doctor and Bosworth’s MP, to raise awareness around important issues. James spoke about body image, physical and mental health and his own self experiences with the pressures of social media.

James intentionally met the MP to discuss the new Body Image Bill, which has been introduced in Parliament and was first presented back in September 2020.

Dr Luke Evans even posted a TikTok with James, who said: “I’ve come to meet Dr Luke Evans MP and I’m really, really excited because we’ve been speaking about mental health and body image, and that’s something that’s very personal to me.” You can watch it down below.

James isn’t the only famous face who has recently raised these issues to MPs. Dr Alex George, who appeared on season 4 of Love Island, was an A&E doctor and used his platform to raise awareness of important issues such as those James has also talked about. Dr Alex went on to speak with MPs and has now become the UK’s Youth Mental Health Ambassador. The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, created the role just for him.

It’s so inspiring that more and more celebrities, who have a large following and platform, are beginning to speak up about said issues. It helps to raise awareness and it also prompts discussion, it’s brilliant.

Maybe there’s a role there that James could potentially take on too? It’d be great to see him in a similar role to Dr Alex!
