Daniel Radcliffe signs up for ‘wicked’ new role

Daniel Radcliffe, who we all know and love as the titular character of the Harry Potter franchise, has recently signed to play “Weird Al” Yankovic.

Daniel is no stranger to stepping out of his comfort zone and playing unexpected roles in films, since Harry Potter came to a close 10 years ago, and this is another unexpected role for the talented actor.

According to Digital Spy, Daniel’s latest project has been confirmed and it will see him stepping into “Weird Al” Yankovic’s shoes, for the lead role, in a film titled Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The film promises to take the audience on an “unbelievable journey” through Yankovic’s life and career.

“Weird Al” Yankovic, who’s real name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic, has had a hugely successful career spanning over almost five decades. He has won five Grammys and been nominated for 11 and as of 2007, he’d sold over 12 million albums.

Yankovic has written the film, alongside Eric Appel who is also the director and executive producer. Yankovic stated; “I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.” Is that a promise that the film will be even bigger and better than Potter? Only time will tell.

Production for the biopic apparently begins in Los Angeles next month. Who else can’t wait to see Daniel star in this?
